:new: NOW v5 COMPATIBLE :new:

deviantNOTES - Flag notes is a Firefox/Greasemonkey script that lets you flag notes "as unread" for later.

Requires: Firefox and Greasemonkey

How to install it:
1) Install the Greasemonkey Extension and restart Firefox
2) Right-click the link below and choose "Install User Script" in the context menu. Alternatively, click the link and select "Tools -> Install User Script" in the menu bar.

:)/:invisible: DOWNLOAD VERSION 1.1: [deviantNOTES - Flag notes]
:star:/:star-empty: DOWNLOAD VERSION 1.1: [deviantNOTES - Flag notes]

How to use it:
I tried to keep things fairly intuitive, but anyway:
:bulletblue: Each note in your Message Centre has a funky smiley next to it.
:invisible:/:star-empty: This is a regular, unflagged note.
:)/:star: This is a flagged note.
You can toggle the flag simply by clicking on a smiley.
:bulletblue: When one or more notes are flagged, the Deviant Bar at the top will be updated to read "Deviant [yourname] has x new messages (...) and y flagged notes". That indicator will of course also be visible on other pages to remind you of flagged notes. The link will take you to your Notes Section.

Version History:
v1.1 [Aug 9, 2006] - Now v5 compatible
v1.0 [Nov 26, 2005] - Release (Still available)

Known Issues:
:bulletblue: No bugs so far, I think...
:bulletblue: My idle worry is that I overlooked some page where the flag-counter ("and y flagged notes") is inserted even though it wouldn't make much sense (Shop pages and such which have a Deviant Bar but no "has x new messages" thing). It's no critical bug, it would just lead to some weird phrasing ^^;

Misc. Stuff:
Please tell me if you notice anything odd or unusual while using this script. Comments or Feature Requests are very welcome! :)
:bulletred: This script can co-exist with `doofsmack's fairly awesome script that restores the good old "(5D, 1H, 10M...)" view. Only mentioning it because his rather radical coding approach forced me to insert my script's message in another way. :shakefist: =P

Credits:
:bulletblue: I don't work much with notes and I thus never felt the direct need for a "Mark as unread" feature. So this script is one of those which had been inspired by other people. In this case, the inspiration came from the Suggestions Forum, where I noticed a few threads asking for this feature. Over the course of almost two months, @bluespeed9, =tailsthekitsune and ~kudaru-san opened similar threads about this. So I figured that there's apparently some demand for it and finally got off my lazy behind :aww:
:bulletblue: Thanks to =kaujot for reminding me of the star emoticons.

Daily Deviation

Given 2006-03-23

Now, i'm a nut for Greasemonkey scripts. I'm also a nut for keeping notes, e-mails, and other messages as unread so I can come back to them later. However, deviantART doesn't offer that, so deviantNOTES - Flag notes by =NekoDramon is the answer to all my prayers. I tested it out, and it's awesome. I recommend it for anyone who wants to mark their notes as unread. (Suggested by ~geek-of-jersey and Featured by `bornghost)

This is pretty much a genius idea. I am totally in love already, and I haven't even clicked it.

Perhaps the option of different flags?

The idea is FANTASTIC, but I don't really dig on the smilies being used. :(

This never happened. It will shock you how much it never happened.
:iconnekodramon:
Well, you can edit the smileys that are being used (Way 1: Tools -> Manage User Scripts -> Edit script. Way 2: Go to the Script URL, save the page to your HD, open it with Notepad, then open it with Firefox and do the "Install this script" thing). You'll notice two lines beginning with flagicon = "..."; and unflagicon = "...";. Those are the ones linking to the smileys (flagw, flagh, etc are th width and height infos). Just change those URLs to the URLs of the smiley you want to use (right-click on a smiley and select "Properties") to get URL and height/width info).

It's not really comfortable, I'll easily admit that much. Maybe I'll figure out a better way to do it these days (*ponders*), but until then, editing the script should at least work. :)
:iconkaujot:
You're a star!

Thank you. :)

I set it up to use the "full-star" and "empty-star" images. If you'd like me to e-mail you the edited script if you want to provide both, or just the star one, or whatever, I'd be more than happy to.

:iconnekodramon:
Interesting choice (totally forgot about the star emoticons :O_o:)... I'll put up an alternate script for now (while I ponder about the select-emoticon solution). No need for mail, I'll just edit the URLs here :)
:iconspinegrinder:
That's kickass. Helps me do my job better. =P

Oh wow, this is also wonderful! I've made the suggestion to DA more than once to allow us to 'flag' our notes, and you've done it! :w00t:

Gah, awesome idea. I always forget about notes when I read them but don't have time to reply at the moment. This will really help. :D
